Hi All

we are please to see the tail end of this cold snap! We move into regular operations Thursday to Sunday. We will be open 930-330, half day at 1230 week days and 10-4 halfday at 1 on weekends.

Please note, we are dealing with some staffing shortages. We are unable to offer lounge service on weekdays until further notice. As well, our cafeteria will close at 1pm on weekdays. Rental shop will close between 1-3 weekdays.

We hope to solve this shortage but until that time please expect this disruption in service and plan accordingly. Thank you for your understanding!

Caesar cinnamon bun Sunday Why the heck not.

MAny riders already this morning have said its way warmer than yesterday, wind has calmed right off , -16C temps expected to rise with the sun. LIfts run 10-4 half day starts at 1PM.

We will have a toasty lodge , delicious home cooked food, groomed runs and excellent company! LAyer up and enjoy a great day skiing or enjoy the views from the comfort of the lodge. See you soon!

We're back! March 2nd 2024

Rise and shine! Its currently minus 17C and snowing. 10Cm overnight on top of the heaps of untouched snow from throughout the week, a great day to get some first tracks. Dress for the weather its a bit chilly out there this morning but forecasted to warm throughout the day! LIfts run at 10am Half day starts at 1pm.

March 1st 2024: Welcome back winter!

We are pleased to announce that we will be open as usual starting tomorrow! Lifts from now until the end of the season will run 930-330 on week days and 10-4 on weekends (until spring break)

Ticket window and rental shop will open at 9am, Kitchen at 10am, lounge at 11. We are fully booked for ski lessons but we have a couple snowboard spots open!

It is expected to be cold with a wind tomorrow so please dress for the temperatures and take warm up breaks! We have received just under 60 cm of snow since Sunday (snowed all day today!) so all terrain except the terrain park will be open. We have had some wind so we are still seeing some thinner spots lower down that we are working to farm snow to improve, so still look out for marked hazards.

The goat trail (newlands trail) is newly broken but there are some rocks so use caution but the snow is good once you get out there. Please note, some areas such as Zeke’s Zag did melt completely free of snow, soo while there is excellent base somewhere, we don’t doubt you will find the odd rock or two in the more exposed areas of the mountain.

We are thrilled to be back , tell your friend we need all the business we can get after this challenging winter!

Reopening! March 2nd 2024

We are stoked to announce we are reopening this Saturday March 2nd 2024!

Lifts will run 10-4 on weekends, 930-330 on weekdays. We are back to our regular programming after this weekend, Thur-Sun until further notice!

Possible reopening?

Welp. That's better! 14-16 inches of snow and still falling. Our outlook is suddenly much improved round here.

We cannot say for a certainty what, if anything will be open but it's highly probable that we have some skiing available by Saturday. Please note: most of the bottom 3-4 towers were entirely snow free as of yesterday so reopening is a task that will take time and effort. It's a bit like starting from square one.

At this time, we would only plan for sat and sun this week if all goes well and go from there.

There is a heavy wind forecast for tomorrow so it's unclear how that could affect us. Fingers crossed it's the 'snow delivery', not 'snow robbing' style of wind.

We hope to continue offering happy news and we will keep you posted on the progress this week!

Please NO up track traffic whatsoever this week. The snow cat will be working and staff onsite. Thanks!

We the North!

It feels like its been some time that we were able to share any good news. But today, our friends up at Shames Mountain Co-op in Terrace BC made an announcement that we can all smile about. They have expanded their reciprocal for Murray Ridge pass holders to 100% meaning if you are a Ridge season pass holder you will receive your pass for FREE when you visit Shames.

A little over a 5 hr drive from FSJ to Terrace, even less from Vanderhoof, it’s more than doable to pack the family up for a ski holiday in the north. Head to their website for full details and information on accommodations to help you plan your stay.

The ski industry in Canada is vast and varied but in the end we are a big family that does pull together when the going gets tough. This winter has been hard on most areas in Western Canada, even the resorts with full or partial operations. Helping our pass holders out is a bonus but us showing neighbouring ski areas support is help for them too. We hope you make the journey this winter and are treated with the steep and deep days and small town hospitality Shames is known for. We need to support our ski hills in the skinny years if we want them around for the fat years. LET IT SNOW!

Caesar Sunday on the Ridge! Feb 4th 2024

Can't very well spend too much time feeling sorry for ourselves can we?

After all we have a lodge full of great food that needs eating, beverages that need drinking and staff we need to keep working!

Join us this Sunday for a Funday of getting outta the house! We will have a full menu, full bar, games, cards, cribs and live music from our very own Sloane Bravener playing three sets to keep you entertained!

No need to even bundle up, just come up, bring the kiddos for their weekly poutine fix!

We need your support now more than ever!

11-6pm all ages welcome.

Please note: there won't be any outdoor activities for obvious reasons:(

Operations Update! Closed until more snow falls!

Do you ever remember playing "Red light, Green Light" as a child? That's what this ski season feels like for those of us both working in the industry and those who are avid snow sports enthusiasts!

Too dry: Red light. Snow: Green light! Too cold: Red light. Big dump: Green light! Plus +13C in January: Red light.

Unfortunately we will be halting operations again until we receive some more snow and cooler temps. Realistically, looking at the forecast, we don't expect the temps to get warm enough to entertain opening until at least sometime Saturday... At which point there is snow forecasted. We will do our best to keep you all posted as things develop and change.

Hope to see you all again soon!

January 28th CLOSED

We will remain closed throughout sunday as the warm conditions are threatening to cause damage to our base, particularly on the lift line. We are aiming to be open as usual for thursday Feb 1st , please stay tuned for updates.

January 27th 2024

We did receive some rain last night, and conditions are challenging. There is a very light breeze and 1C causing a hard ski surface

Today is not the best day for beginners, very spring like!
